Mission and Purpose
Visiting our school, you are more than likely to come across a class signing the school mission statement:
“We are called to be the hands and face of Jesus as we learn love and grow together.”
This is used as a prayer at different points in the day and sums up all that we are called to be. It provides a moral and spiritual framework within which all members of our community can operate, placing Christ at the very centre of the ordinary and the extraordinary. These aren’t just words at St Vincent de Paul School; this is a lived daily experience and is summed up so beautifully in the following film which explains the very distinct charism of our school:
As always, our young people can always teach us a thing or two. It is often so humbling to hear them talking of their faith so naturally, entwined with their very being and reflected in their interactions at school and beyond. They talk with such passion about what it means to be a person of faith and how this impacts upon their lives in the classroom, at home and in the wider community and are so keen to make a difference in the world.
It gives me great pleasure to watch this: our children are our future and the world is in their safe hands!
Thanks be to God!
